From the red soil of rural Kenya – where our founder, Kip Rutto, first learned craftsmanship and resourcefulness – to a revitalized mill building in Holyoke, MA, Rutto Bats is built on resilience, precision, and the spirit of Jua Kali: rising to the challenge.
What began nine years ago in a small barn and guest room has grown into a full-scale manufacturing facility, capable of producing 50,000 professional-grade wooden bats each year – from raw logs to finished product.
As we approach our 10th anniversary, we’re launching Project 10K – an initiative designed to turn our growing production capacity into a force for good at a pivotal moment in our journey.
With the support of our partners, we are dedicating our first major production cycles to delivering 10,000 bats to underserved youth athletes.

All bats are purchased as property and delivered directly to our non-profit distribution partner, Good Sports, Inc. 501(c)(3) organization, on your behalf.

Today, Rutto Bats holds a historic distinction as the first African-born and first person of color to be licensed to supply Major League Baseball – an achievement that reflects both our craftsmanship and our commitment to excellence.
But we didn’t build this company just to make bats. We built it to expand access to the game – so more kids, regardless of background, have the opportunity to play.
